Adele, originally from Toronto, developed a strong passion for supporting children in foster care during her time working at Salvation Army summer camps. Her commitment to helping vulnerable children grew through her various ministry roles, both in Canada and internationally, in Bolivia and South Africa, where she worked with children and youth.
Adele later became a full-time foster parent in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, raising four foster boys to adulthood. Through this experience, she recognized the critical need for stronger support systems for families in crisis. She realized that many parents do not need their children removed for protection, but rather need additional love, support, and, ultimately, a connection to faith.
Her philosophy is simple: “Not all families need protection for their children. Sometimes parents just need extra love and support, and ultimately, they need Jesus.”
Following her sons’ transitions to adulthood, Adele became deeply involved with Safe Families Canada, first in the Kitchener-Waterloo & Cambridge Chapter and then with the Toronto Chapter. She remains passionate about Safe Families’ mission of surrounding families in crisis with a caring, compassionate community to keep children safe and families intact.
