The Okanagan Region Chapter of Safe Families Canada launched in December 2025, becoming the newest addition to the SFC family. This chapter is the result of faithful prayer, vision, and the tireless dedication of a committed Launch Team who believed deeply in bringing the Safe Families model to their communities. Their passion to be the hands and feet of Jesus—creating safe, supportive circles around families in crisis—has laid a strong foundation for the work ahead. SFC is grateful for their leadership and excited to see how this chapter will impact the lives of children and parents throughout the Okanagan.
Kristen Prediger – Chapter Director
Kristen is honoured to join Safe Families Canada as the Chapter Director for the Okanagan region of British Columbia. This role is a natural fit for her passion for social and community services, as well as her deep faith. Safe Families’ mission resonates deeply with her, inviting individuals to follow the compassionate and attentiveness of Jesus through meaningful service to their neighbors.
Radical Hospitality. Compassion fueled by Mercy. Disruptive Generosity.
These core values of Safe Families inspire Kristen and deepen her excitement to be part of a movement emerging in the Okanagan.
With a heart drawn to those who are struggling or overlooked, Kristen seeks out spaces where care, presence, and practical support can make a real difference. Her career has taken her into hospice and bereavement work, care for the unhoused, leadership in a national drug-prevention initiative, and roles within academic education, among other meaningful jobs.
Her volunteer work has been equally diverse—coaching basketball with the YMCA, serving at local missions such as Surrey Urban Mission and Upper Room Mission, holding vigils through hospice, serving on her church board, and teaching both women’s groups and children’s Sunday school classes.
Outside of work, Kristen feels most alive outdoors—hiking, cross-country skiing, road-tripping to new places, exploring vibrant cities, and enjoying deep, meaningful conversations. She also loves cooking healthy meals and savoring a strong cup of coffee.
Born and raised in Washington State, Kristen first moved to Canada to attend Trinity Western University. After completing her BA in Psychology, she married a Canadian whom she loves partnering with in service and support of others. She and her husband, Pete, now reside in BC’s beautiful Okanagan with their two fantastic teenagers.
